Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto

Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto

Rigoletto is one of Verdi’s career-defining operas. It is an exploration of love in all its aspects – parental, filial, romantic and sensual with intoxicatingly beautiful music and a thriller libretto that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Verdi created the title role of Rigoletto as one of the great Jekyll and Hyde operatic characters: a man who manipulates and mocks in public, yet is tender and loving parent in private. Cast in this principal role is the incomparable baritone Mark Rucker - one of the leading Rigolettos in the world today!

“Rigoletto really belongs to the baritone – in this case, Mark Rucker, who sang heroically. Rucker moved fluidly from broad mockery of the Duke’s courtiers though the dark recitative “Pari siamo!” into the tender father-daughter duet.” - Opera News

Rigoletto
will be sung in Italian with English translations projected above the stage. Maestro Lipton will lead an international cast along with the Opera Tampa Orchestra and Chorus.
