Opera Tampa is proud to present its New Voices program for the 2017-2018 season. These four exceptionally gifted artists, who have performed on main stages around the world, will be making their debut in prominent roles in this season’s productions. 

 

Jill Gardner, Soprano

American soprano Jill Gardner is establishing herself among today's leading operatic heroines. She is consistently hailed for her portrayals of leading ladies of the verismo repertoire and Puccini heroines. Opera News called Gardner's interpretation of Tosca "fresh and focused."

Tyler Nelson, Tenor

Opera News has referred to the singing of American tenor Tyler Nelson as "mellifluous." He has a wide range of operatic experience including appearances as a soloist on the stages of The Kennedy Center and at Carnegie Hall.

Alex Mansoori, Tenor

Tenor Alex Mansoori has been hailed as "solid and convincing" and "smartly characterized" by The New York Times. Specializing in character tenor roles, he has performed at Carnegie Hall and appeared in PBS' Candide in Concert with the New York Philharmonic.
 

Seung-Hyeon Baek, Baritone

Applauded for his full and generous baritone voice, Seung-Hyeon Baek won the Career Bridges opera competition in 2015 and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Opera News referred to him as "suave, wry and amusingly mocking" as Buoso in Gianni Schicci.
