Opera lovers come together for the highlight of the opera season — the Opera Tampa Gala 2014, celebrating the Florida Opera Festival’s production of Bizet’s masterpiece Carmen and recognizing the recipient of the Anton Coppola Excellence in the Arts Award. 

The black-tie affair begins with a cocktail reception and the opportunity to view the set of Bizet’s Carmen on Carol Morsani Hall stage. An exquisite dinner with principals from the cast of Carmen and Maestro Daniel Lipton follows in the Ruth Silbiger Lobby of Carol Morsani Hall. An exciting live auction followed by desserts and dancing cap off an unforgettable evening.

All proceeds benefit Opera Tampa.

THE ANTON COPPOLA EXCELLENCE IN THE ARTS AWARD

This year's award is presented to celebrated American baritone Thomas Hampson, one of the most recognized, popular, and sought-after singers before the public today. His repertoire spans more than 80 roles in major opera houses and concert halls all over the world and includes over 170 musical recordings.

In honor of composer-conductor Anton Coppola, the Anton Coppola Excellence in the Arts Award is given to an artist in celebration of his/her contributions to Opera Tampa and the music world at large. Receipients are chosen based on their extraordinary efforts to build and maintain the operatic art form.
