Opera Tampa’s 2010-2011 season is sure to elate every opera buff and enthrall any inquisitive newcomer.

The 2010-2011 Opera Tampa season includes: Franz Lehár's The Merry Widow Nov. 12-14, 2010, in Ferguson Hall; A Night of Stars: A Special Orchestra Concert Feb. 24, 2011, in Carol Morsani Hall; and Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata April 29 and May 1, 2011, in Carol Morsani Hall.

Opera Tampa is proud to offer our 16th season of beautiful music, new adaptations, rising stars and grand opera. As the resident opera company for the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, we strive to provide the area with world-class opera in an accessible and educational environment.

This season we are proud to produce Artistic Director and Conductor Anton Coppola’s adaptation of Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow in the intimate Ferguson Hall. In its third year, the Anton Coppola Excellence in the Arts Award continues to honor the greatest names in opera. This year’s recipient is the legendary tenor Plàcido Domingo. A special opera gala is planned to acknowledge his contributions to the art form and celebrate the next generation of singers with a concert that will introduce you to rising stars that ensure opera’s place in the future.

We conclude the season with grand opera in the acoustically perfect Carol Morsani Hall. The enduring classic La Traviata will continue Opera Tampa’s path of growth and critical praise.

Season ticket holders will be guaranteed the best seats for all performances and will receive additional benefits with complimentary admission to all educational events including master classes, prelude performances and pre-performance lectures. It is our way of thanking you for your continued support.

Even sold-out performances don’t fully cover the expense of these beautiful productions. Our innovative programming, expanded educational opportunities and increased star power require additional support from opera lovers like you. Please support this timeless art form by becoming an Opera League member and enjoying the pre-performance receptions and Gala.

Optimism is the enduring theme of opera. It is in that spirit that we continue to innovate, develop and ensure that the next generation of opera lovers are nurtured and supported. With each new performance we see the young faces of patrons, wide-eyed and entranced by the wonder and the magic that is opera. Thank you for your contributions to our success and continued support.

With much gratitude,
