STRAZ CENTER VENUES

The David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts has five venues:

Carol Morsani Hall
The triumphant centerpiece of the Straz Center is the 2,610-seat Carol Morsani Hall. Formerly referred to as Festival Hall, the theater was renamed in 1996 after local residents Carol and Frank Morsani established a major endowment fund to benefit the Straz Center.

Louise Lykes Ferguson Hall
Ideally suited for plays, musical concerts and dance events, the elegant 1,042-seat Ferguson Hall boasts comfortable orchestra seating and two tiers of curving balconies, creating a unique blend of intimacy and spaciousness. The hall offers flexibility that also suits corporate meetings, lectures and seminars. The hall was formerly named The Playhouse. It was renamed in 2000 to honor Louise Lykes Ferguson, a founder of the Straz Center whose family made a major endowment gift in her honor.

Jaeb Theater
The 268-seat Robert and Lorena Jaeb Theater is named for the Jaebs, whose gift to the Capitol Fund Drive in 1985 helped establish the endowment fund for the the Straz Center. The audience area of the Jaeb Theater can be configured to stadium or cabaret seating for plays or cabaret shows, as well as recording sessions, television productions, seminars and business meetings.

Hinks and Elaine Shimberg Playhouse
The 130-seat Shimberg Playhouse, located between the Straz Center's retail store and the Jaeb Theater, is an intimate venue for local and national artists such as poets, musicians, dancers, comedians, performance artists and small theater companies. The Shimberg Playhouse was earlier known as the Off Center Theater. It was renamed in 2000 to honor Hinks and Elaine Shimberg, founders of the Straz Center and benefactors of the Straz Center's producing arm.

TECO Energy Foundation Theater
The 3,500-square-foot TECO Energy Foundation Theater dominates the west end of the first floor of the Patel Conservatory. The room is two stories of open space with glass walls and windows on two sides. Blackout curtains convert the rehearsal space into a performance space. There is no permanent stage and all furnishings are portable for maximum flexibility. Shows one might see in the TECO Theater include the Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra Recitals and showcases of Conservatory classes including Rock School.

Rehearsal Hall
The Rehearsal Hall is a 70-foot wide by 50-foot deep by 30-foot high rehearsal space with full-length mirrors and ballet barres on three walls. Full length curtains are hung for masking the mirrors and dampening the room acoustically.
